WEST BARNSTABLE, MASSACHUSETTS — Clare Fearon, 76, remains missing as of early Saturday morning, November 7, 2026. Shortly before 4 a.m., Hyannis News confirmed with Barnstable Police dispatch that she had not been located. Members of the Barnstable Police Department continued searching through the overnight hours, and additional crews—including officers held over from the overnight shift—were set to resume larger search efforts this morning.
Fearon, who suffers from dementia, was last seen walking in the area of Pine Street in West Barnstable at approximately 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 5. At about 3:40 p.m. that afternoon, Barnstable Police responded to 310 Pine Street for a report of a missing female. A large-scale, multi-agency search effort began around 4:00 p.m. Thursday and continued through Friday.
On Friday, more than 60 searchers divided into 10 teams canvassed an approximately four-square-mile area surrounding Pine Street. Search operations included systematic foot searches assisted by drones, K9 teams, and ATVs. Daylight efforts covered a significant area that included local train tracks, bogs, and ponds. In total, over 497 acres were searched by drone and 953 acres on foot. Police said members of the department would remain in the area overnight, with additional multi-agency efforts scheduled to resume in the morning.
Investigators later received information that at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, Fearon was seen wearing black leggings, a long-sleeve blue shirt, and black footwear. Earlier statements had noted that the clothing she was last wearing was initially unknown. (See above BPD surveillance images…)
Police have repeatedly asked residents in the area to carefully check their properties, including yards, vehicles, sheds, garages, and other outbuildings. They are also requesting that anyone who received a phone alert review home or business surveillance footage recorded between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 5. Officials stressed that even footage that may seem insignificant could provide valuable information.
The department has thanked the community for its support and concern while asking the public not to self-deploy to the search area, as additional foot traffic could interfere with organized efforts. Police also addressed circulating misinformation, stating that earlier social media reports that Clare had been found were inaccurate and that she had not been located.
Anyone who has seen Clare Fearon, has information about her whereabouts, observed suspicious activity, or has video footage that may assist investigators is urged to contact the Barnstable Police Department immediately at 508-778-3874. Officials have asked the public to continue sharing official BPD updates and to rely only on official sources.
Hyannis News will provide further officially confirmed updates as they become available.
