Young Man Killed in Fiery Crash- Marshfield, MA (02--4-12)
MARSHFIELD — A young man was killed early Saturday in a fiery crash near 500 Highland Street, near the Spring Street intersection in No. Marshfield.. The victim is not being identified at this time. The accident remains under investigation by state and local police. Marshfield police said that a motor vehicle was traveling west on Highland Street when it went off the road about 4:39 am and struck a tree. The vehicle caught fire. Highland Street is hilly and winding in parts of that section. When police and fire officials arrived, the occupant of the vehicle, a young man, was found dead, according to Marshfield police. No further information about him was available. Nearby residents on Highland Street said they heard the sound of the crash near a pond on the street but did not realize what had happened. They said they saw young people Saturday afternoon putting flowers where the crash occurred. State Police from the Plymouth County District Attorney's office are working with Det. Michael Egan of the Marshfield police on the investigation and accident reconstruction. A section of the road was shut down for several hours as state and local police reconstructed the scene and waited for the arrival of the medical examiner's office. There were no other victims of the single car crash, police said. patriotledger.com
