WEST YARMOUTH, MASSACHUSETTS — A young woman riding an e-scooter was transported to Cape Cod Hospital this afternoon after a collision with a Subaru at the intersection of Route 28 and Springer Lane. Yarmouth Police and a Yarmouth Fire Department ambulance crew responded to the scene. When Hyannis News arrived, the rider was still down in the roadway. She was conscious, alert, and able to speak with first responders. Crews assisted her onto a stretcher. She was taken to Cape Cod Hospital banged up, though her injuries were not believed to be life-threatening. A second female scooter rider was also at the scene, worried about her friend who had been struck. She rode in the front of the ambulance to accompany her to the hospital. Another friend later arrived and took custody of both scooters. The adult female driver of the Subaru remained at the scene, appeared to cooperate with investigators, and was eventually released. The investigation continued at Cape Cod Hospital. The Yarmouth Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash.
