“The world breaks everyone and afterward many are strong at the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially. If you are none of these you can be sure it will kill you too but there will be no special hurry.” ~ Earnest Hemingway   ABOVE: Members of Hyannis’s homeless community take refuge during a night of heavy, intermittent downpours.   ABOVE: Barnstable police officers arrest a 32-year-old man on default warrants out of Worcester. At around 2:30 a.m. this morning, BPD patrol officers were dispatched to a Hyannis apartment building after a resident reported a man loitering on the property. Officers made contact with the man and ran his information through their system. It turned out he was wanted out of Worcester District Court on two default warrants: one for aggravated assault and A& B with a dangerous weapon, and another for breaking and entering into a boat. The man was mostly cooperative with the officers, except when he became concerned about his bags sitting on the wet ground. Officers quickly finished frisking him and placed his bags in the back of one of their patrol cars to keep them dry. As he was being placed into a cruiser, the man said to HN, “God bless.” HN replied, “God bless you as well.”   ABOVE: Despite the earlier intermittent downpours, Boston Medflight completed a medevac transfer from Cape Cod Gateway Airport early this morning, assisted by a Hyannis Fire Department ambulance crew. Medevac flights operate out of Cape Cod Gateway Airport 24/7. They typically transport trauma patients from motor vehicle crashes to off-Cape hospitals and also move patients to and from Cape Cod Hospital for a wide range of medical emergencies.   ABOVE: During a downtown Hyannis traffic stop this weekend, Barnstable Police arrested a young man on an outstanding arrest warrant from the Boston area for assault and battery.     ABOVE: Several days ago in the early morning hours, a Hyannis firefighter spotted a young woman lying in distress in the parking lot of a downtown car dealership. She appeared to be in pain and possibly suffering from a leg injury. A Hyannis Fire Department ambulance crew, along with Barnstable police officers, responded and carefully assisted her onto a stretcher before transporting her to Cape Cod Hospital’s emergency room.         ABOVE: During a traffic stop in Hyannis early Saturday morning at around 2:00 a.m., Barnstable Police officers spoke with Clesha Philips, 32, currently residing in South Dennis. Officers grew concerned after noticing a puppy inside the unregistered vehicle being driven by Philips. Philips, who is currently on probation and prohibited from possessing dogs following prior animal cruelty convictions, told officers the puppy belonged to someone else. Hyannis News called 911 minutes prior to report the situation and has video of an apparent disturbance that occurred shortly before the traffic stop. This is a developing story and remains under investigation. Stay tuned… P.S. – Today’s Hytown Vignette is a brought to you by Chet Baker… [CLICK IT/CRANK IT!
