HYANNIS, MASSACHUSETTS — A 73-year-old man lost his life Tuesday evening after being struck by a vehicle on Main Street in Hyannis, according to a statement from Deputy Chief Mark Mellyn of the Barnstable Police Department. The fatal accident occurred near the intersection of Main and Winter Streets. At approximately 4:57 p.m. on October 7, 2025, Barnstable Police responded to reports of a single-vehicle accident involving a pedestrian at 453 Main Street. Hyannis Fire Department Rescue personnel arrived promptly, providing critical care to the victim before transporting him to Cape Cod Hospital. Despite all efforts, the man later succumbed to his injuries. The Barnstable Police Department’s Crash Investigation Unit is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragedy. Authorities have not released the victim’s identity, and no criminal charges have been filed against the driver at this time.
