SANDWICH, MASSACHUSETTS — A 67-year-old Sandwich man has been charged with the murder of his 61-year-old sister after authorities responded to a well-being check and discovered her body showing clear signs of violent trauma. Cape & Islands District Attorney Robert J. Galibois and Sandwich Police Chief Jason Keene announced Tuesday that Kenneth Beltrame was charged with murder following the grim discovery at a residence in Sandwich on March 24. According to officials, Sandwich police arrived at the home after receiving a call for a well-being check. Beltrame was outside when officers arrived and told them his sister, Jennifer Beltrame, was inside and deceased. Officers found her body with obvious signs of violent trauma. Detectives from the Sandwich Police Department and the State Police Detectives Unit assigned to the Cape & Islands District Attorney’s Office launched an immediate investigation. They conducted multiple interviews and executed a search warrant at the residence. Beltrame was read his Miranda rights and gave a recorded interview with investigators. Beltrame is scheduled to be arraigned today, March 25, in Barnstable District Court on the murder charge. “This matter continues to be investigated by the Sandwich Police Department and the State Police Detectives Unit,” the district attorney’s office said in a statement. DA Galibois and Chief Keene extended their condolences to the victim’s loved ones and praised the “thorough and collaborative effort” by investigators that led to swift charges. The Cape & Islands District Attorney’s Office noted that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. [The above is based on a press release from the district attorney’s office.
