*** WATCH *** Excellent Save: Dennis Police, Firefighters Knock Down Pre-Dawn Blaze on Lindsey Lane; Occupants Safe

DENNIS, MASSACHUSETTS – Just prior to 3:00 a.m. Wednesday, police and firefighters rushed to a fire alarm on Lindsey Lane. Upon arrival, responders found a corner of the residence already on fire. Dennis police officers quickly worked to help evacuate the two occupants—a woman and a senior male recovering from surgery—while also emptying several fire extinguishers on the flames, which helped slow the fire to some extent. Firefighters arrived quickly to assist with the evacuation and stretched a line to the rear corner of the home, where flames were consuming an outside wall. The fire is believed to have started on the outside of the building, likely in the mulch, and extended into the attic above the garage. Thanks to the quick, efficient response from all responders, the flames were rapidly knocked down, keeping the damage away from the living quarters and limiting overall destruction. According to Chief Chris Guerriero of the Dennis Fire Department, there was mostly smoke damage inside the home. The cause is under investigation and does not appear suspicious; Guerriero credits working smoke detectors as the first line of defense that helped save the home from overwhelming damage.
