SOUTH YARMOUTH, MASSACHUSETTS — A Saturday-night traffic stop on Old Town House Road turned up a loaded, unholstered “purple-and-black” Taurus 9mm pistol after Yarmouth police grew suspicious of a silver Audi with Texas plates that had been lingering at a house known for narcotics trafficking. Patrolman Jefferson Willis, who has conducted multiple investigations at the address in question — including a prior search warrant that netted “trafficking weight narcotics, a firearm, and ammunition” — spotted the unfamiliar sedan parked in the driveway around 9:50 p.m. on April 4, 2026, with its front running lights on. He watched for 35 minutes as the car sat, then followed as it cut through the CVS/Wendy’s plaza without stopping at any business and made several brief maneuvers before he pulled it over at the intersection of Old Town House Road and Forest Road. Willis wrote in his report that the stop was based on “the totality of the circumstances” and his training that “people purchasing or selling narcotics often make multiple stops at various addresses where they stay for brief periods of time.” The driver, Quintarious Moore, 38, of New London, New Hampshire, was behind the wheel of the Texas-registered Audi (VTD5405). He produced a Texas driver’s license and told Willis he lives in Texas full-time but was “heading home” to New Hampshire after visiting his cousin “Junior” in Yarmouth. He said he had arrived from Texas about an hour earlier and made no other stops. During the stop, officers noted Moore’s “slow roll” — the car continued inching forward even after brake lights came on — and heavily tinted windows that prevented them from seeing inside. Willis ordered Moore out of the still-running vehicle “as a protective measure.” Moore consented to a frisk, saying “yea that’s fine.” As Willis patted him down, K9 Officer Liam Breen shone his flashlight into the driver’s side and immediately spotted the gun. “Within seconds of Quintarius stating he did not have any weapons, I shined my flashlight on the driver floor. Tucked under the seat, I immediately observed an unsecured purple and black handgun laying on the floor with no holster. I grabbed onto Quintarius and began to direct him away from his vehicle while telling Officer Willis that I just located a gun in the vehicle.” Officer Breen reported in a supplemental police narrative. The Taurus was partially concealed under the driver’s seat, barrel facing the rear seats. It was loaded with eight rounds in a 12-round-capacity magazine and one round in the chamber. Moore immediately admitted it was his but confirmed he had “no” Massachusetts License to Carry. A search incident to arrest turned up a box of 41 rounds of Monarch 9mm Luger ammunition in the trunk and a bottle of tequila inside the car. Moore denied drinking that day, but officers noted a slight sway, the smell of alcohol in the cruiser during transport, and his refusal to take a preliminary breath test to prove them wrong. Moore’s story continued to shift under questioning. When asked for his cousin’s last name he paused, said “uhhh #&%*@^%!,” thought for a moment, then offered “Dorsey.” A records check found no one by that name living on Cape Cod. Confronted with the timeline of his movements, Moore changed his account again, claiming he had picked up his cousin and dropped him at a second house. Moore was charged with: • M.G.L. Ch. 269 Sec. 10 — Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (loaded, 8 in magazine + 1 in chamber) • M.G.L. Ch. 269 Sec. 10 — Unlawful Possession of Ammunition (without FID card) • M.G.L. Ch. 269 Sec. 10 — Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device (12-round magazine) He was released on personal recognizance and arraigned Monday at Barnstable District Court. The Audi was towed. No narcotics were found in the car or on Moore. No further details were available at the time of this HN report… HN Reminder: The initial details contained in the above report are based on a Yarmouth Police press statement and information from Yarmouth Police reports. The defendant is presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
