SOUTH YARMOUTH, MASSACHUSETTS – A Sunday evening turned into a night of chaos and bloodshed on Wampanoag Road when a man, stabbed twice including a potentially life-threatening wound to the neck, bolted from a residence and sought refuge at a neighbor’s doorstep.
The harrowing incident unfolded shortly after 6:00 p.m. on January 4, 2026, drawing a swift response from Yarmouth police officers and emergency medical teams. Bleeding heavily, the victim escaped 26 Wampanoag Road and dialed authorities from the safety of a nearby residence. As patrol cars slid onto Wampanoag Road, which still bore compacted snow from a previous storm, he approached the first arriving officers, who quickly cleared the way for ambulances staging on Seaview Avenue. Paramedics then rushed him 3.5 miles to Cape Cod Hospital’s emergency room for urgent treatment.
Back at the residence, tension escalated as armed officers, rifles drawn, commanded two women to exit the property. One, a woman in her mid-60s, was arrested as the alleged assailant and charged in connection with the stabbing. The other was transported to police headquarters for questioning as a potential witness. Sources indicate a notable lack of cooperation from those involved, complicating the early stages of the probe.
While the victim was being patched up amid significant blood loss and injuries to vital areas, investigators secured the crime scene at 26 Wampanoag Road. Detectives later returned with a search warrant to meticulously document and process the evidence, aided by a member of the sheriff’s crime scene unit for photography and evidence collection.
In a surprising twist, the victim was released from the hospital despite the severity of his wounds—only to be taken into custody on unrelated active arrest warrants. Details of those warrants remain undisclosed. As of this report, both the victim and the suspect are in police custody.
The Yarmouth Police Department continues its investigation, with official updates to follow as new information emerges. According to sources, current information does not indicate the incident was domestic in nature.
