CENTERVILLE, MASSACHUSETTS – An alarming incident unfolded on Old Farm Road Thursday afternoon when a fully loaded cement mixer truck became entangled in live power lines, leaving the driver temporarily trapped inside the vehicle. The accident occurred around 4:00 p.m., prompting an immediate response from Barnstable Police. A patrolman on the scene quickly called for emergency assistance from Eversource crews to de-energize the dangling wires. An Eversource worker arrived swiftly and the driver was safely removed from the truck that needed to remain churning during the ordeal. The driver, whose identity has not been released, was evaluated by a Centerville-Osterville-Marstons Mills ambulance crew and found to be uninjured. He remained at the scene, expressing deep concern about the truck’s cargo — a full load of cement that required continuous mixing and the addition of water to prevent it from hardening inside the drum. The mishap caused significant damage to infrastructure, including a snapped utility pole, overhead wiring, and a service drop affecting at least one nearby residence. Eversource teams stayed on site well into the evening to conduct repairs and restore power. It appears a tree may have also fallen onto the truck, contributing to the entanglement. Barnstable Police are actively investigating the cause of the accident, with no further details released at this time. Residents in the area were advised to avoid Old Farm Road during repair efforts.
