HYANNIS, MASSACHUSETTS – [HN photo notes]  –  A man was arrested in Hyannis on Tuesday evening after allegedly threatening a theft victim with a razor or knife, according to Barnstable Police. The incident unfolded around 5:35 p.m. when officers responded to a call on Main Street near South Street. The caller reported confronting a man in possession of his recently stolen skateboard, only to be threatened with “some sort of knife or razor” by the suspect, who then fled the scene with the skateboard. The suspect was described as an older white male with long grayish hair, wearing a gray hoodie, and carrying a skateboard, possibly still armed with a razor or knife. Moments later, the Barnstable Police K9 unit located a man matching this description on Bassett Lane, carrying a skateboard and wearing a gray hoodie. He was promptly detained as officers continued their investigation. The victim was brought to Bassett Lane, where he positively identified the detained man as the suspect and confirmed the skateboard as his stolen property, according to sources. The suspect was arrested and transported to Barnstable Police Department Headquarters, facing charges of Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (razor/knife) and larceny-related offenses for the alleged theft of the skateboard, according to radio transmissions and sources at the scene. Police were unable to locate a razor or knife on the suspect or in his belongings. Suspecting the weapon may have been discarded along Main Street, the K9 unit initiated an article search in the area, though the outcome of the search remains unknown at this time. Additional details regarding the arrest are expected as the investigation continues. [DEVELOPING] ………………….. In a separate incident occurring around the same time, Barnstable Police were investigating a stolen vehicle reported from a business parking lot on Route 28 near the airport in Hyannis. The vehicle, described as a gray 2007 Infiniti G35, was reportedly taken, and other cars in the lot were reportedly broken into. Investigators are reviewing video evidence, and a B.O.L.O. (Be On the Lookout) was issued to state and local police departments for the stolen vehicle. Hyannis News will provide updates on both incidents as more information becomes available.
