*** WATCH *** AERIAL FOOTAGE: Gas Main Leak Shuts Route 28 Overnight in West Yarmouth — Standish Way Homes Lose Service

WEST YARMOUTH, MASSACHUSETTS – A gas main leak has forced an overnight closure of Route 28 in West Yarmouth and has cut gas service to every home on Standish Way. Yarmouth Fire and Yarmouth Police have been on scene throughout the overnight near the intersection of Route 28 and Standish Way. The area is secure and National Grid crews are addressing the situation. National Grid reportedly shut off gas to all homes on Standish Way; the exact timing of reopening the gas lines has not been determined, and service will stay off until the main is fully repaired. Route 28 was closed overnight between Townbrook Road and the area of Hemeon Drive and is expected to reopen sometime this morning. Drivers are urged to avoid the area entirely and use alternate routes for the time being. Yarmouth officials urge motorists to stay clear of the scene, plan ahead, and wish to thank everyone for their patience while crews work. [Flyover Video Courtesy of Paul Leidenfrost  –  Press Play]
