*** WATCH *** Masked Male with Knife Tussles with Plainclothes Cop, Tries to Flee — HN Briefly Assists [Body Cam]

HYANNIS, MASSACHUSETTS – [HN Video Notes] – As you will see and hear in the following video, shortly before 3 a.m. this morning, a Barnstable Police plainclothes officer encountered three suspicious males dressed in black and wearing masks on Winter Street. Earlier, a Barnstable Police patrolwoman had been flagged down by a motorist who reported seeing three masked males jump into a downtown wooded area. She investigated but was unable to locate them. A short time later, around 3 a.m., the plainclothes officer spotted the trio while patrolling downtown. Hyannis News was just around the corner and responded to the scene. Upon exiting the vehicle, HN heard the officer warn one of the males not to touch a knife. As the officer moved to secure the weapon, the male suddenly pulled away and tried to flee. A tussle ensued. Not wanting to see anyone get hurt (especially since the officer was alone with three suspicious males), HN immediately assisted the officer until the situation was under control. All three individuals were juveniles. The male who attempted to flee was arrested and transported to Barnstable Police Headquarters on multiple charges, including resisting arrest and providing a false name, according to a source. The other two raised their hands and fully cooperated. Both were taken to the front lobby of the police station to be released to their parents. In the end, no one was injured. The Barnstable Police Department is investigating.
