Cape Cod Child Rape Fugitive Caught After 11 Years on the Run, Held Without Bail

Cape & Islands District Attorney Robert J. Galibois announced that Alexander Keen Grant, 55, also known as “Keen Grant” and “Eric Raymond,” of New Orleans, appeared in Barnstable Superior Court on July 29, 2026. Following a revocation hearing, he was held without bail. He is scheduled for a pretrial hearing on September 22, 2026. The case dates to June 2012, when Yarmouth police began investigating a sexual assault. Grant was staying with family members in Yarmouth at the time. Prosecutors allege he provided alcohol and made sexually inappropriate comments to the 15-year-old victim, then placed his hands on her body and forced her hand onto a part of his body. Later that night, authorities allege, he entered her bedroom and sexually assaulted her while commenting on how attractive and mature she was. Grant faced three counts of aggravated rape of a child and two counts of indecent assault and battery on a person over 14. His trial was set for November 12, 2014, in Barnstable Superior Court. He failed to appear, and a warrant was issued. He quickly landed on the Massachusetts State Police Most Wanted list and remained at large for the next 11 years. On February 6, 2026, New Orleans police arrested him under the alias Eric Raymond on unrelated charges. With assistance from the New Orleans Police Department, Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Department, and Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office, authorities confirmed his true identity. While living in Louisiana under the false name, Grant had married and fathered a child. The Massachusetts State Police Detectives Unit assigned to the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office and the Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section (VFAS) helped secure his return through the rendition process. On July 29,2026, Alexander Keen Grant was held without bail after a hearing in the Barnstable Superior Court. He is scheduled to appear in the Barnstable Superior Court for a pretrial hearing on September 22, 2026. Assistant District Attorney Courtney Leigh Scalice, chief of the Child Abuse and Vulnerable Victims Unit, is prosecuting the case, which was originally investigated by the Yarmouth Police Department. District Attorney Galibois praised the cross-jurisdictional cooperation and tireless efforts that brought Grant back to face the charges. “The unwavering commitment of law enforcement agencies working together across jurisdictional lines” made the return possible, he said. In their statement, the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office reiterated that all defendants are presumed innocent.
