HYANNIS, MASSACHUSETTS – [HN VIDEO NOTES] – Shortly after midnight, a routine traffic stop in Hyannis escalated into a bizarre police pursuit when the driver of a gray 2023 Toyota RAV4 suddenly fled from Barnstable Police and refused to stop. The vehicle turned onto West Main Street from Seaboard Lane, and headed toward the West End rotary, traveling approximately 10–15 mph over the posted speed limit. Additional cruisers joined the chase as Massachusetts State Police troopers were notified and moved into the area to assist if necessary. In a strange twist, the RAV4 turned onto Megan Road and began leading officers in circles around Connemara Circle and Athlone Way before abruptly pulling into a driveway on Athlone Way. Two Barnstable Police K9 units quickly responded to assist — one trained to detect firearms and the other trained to detect narcotics. Because the vehicle had been circling the neighborhood, officers believe the occupants may have been attempting to discard evidence during the pursuit. The driver, 22-year-old Jasaya Young of Marstons Mills, was taken into custody without incident. She is charged with Failure to Stop for Police, Marked Lanes Violation, Speeding, Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle, and Operating on a Suspended License. The male passenger, 29-year-old Clyde Perry Jr., became involved in a scuffle with officers before Hyannis News arrived on scene, leaving his hands bloodied. He faces charges of Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Arrest, according to Sergeant Nathan St. Onge of the Barnstable Police Department. Both individuals were released on bail by the time of this report. Hyannis News captured the tense moments with dashcam, bodycam, and regular footage, along with actual Barnstable Police and Massachusetts State Police radio transmissions.
