HYANNIS, MASSACHUSETTS  –  Barnstable Police and Hyannis Firefighters conducted joint mass casualty and active shooter training at the Cape Cod Mall this evening around 7:30 p.m. In the radio traffic from the following HN Audio/Visual, you’ll hear crews referencing RTFs — Rescue Task Forces. These teams pair armed officers with firefighters and paramedics to enter “warm zones,” deliver immediate care (tourniquets, wound sealing), and rapidly extract victims. Responders use simple color-coded triage to prioritize: red for immediate/life-threatening injuries, yellow for serious but delayed cases, and black for those unlikely to survive given available resources. This approach follows models promoted by programs such as ALERRT and NFPA 3000, though it is not confirmed which specific training systems Barnstable Police and Hyannis Firefighters currently use. The following HN Audio/Visual contains several still photos and actual training audio from earlier this evening… [HN AUDIO/VISUAL – PRESS PLAY] P.S. – Today’s Hytown Vignette is brought to you by Roy Clark… [CLICK IT/CRANK IT!
