EAST FALMOUTH, MASSACHUSETTS – March 23, 2026 — In a swift pre-dawn operation, Falmouth police arrested a local man they say was running a fentanyl trafficking operation out of his Central Avenue home, seizing more than 150 grams of the deadly synthetic opioid along with cash and packaging gear.
Officers executed a search warrant at 5 a.m. Monday at 148 Central Avenue, targeting 35-year-old Carlton H. Hendricks III of East Falmouth. The raid capped an ongoing narcotics investigation that uncovered Hendricks allegedly selling illegal drugs on a regular basis, authorities said.
Inside the residence, investigators recovered just over 150 grams of fentanyl — enough to fuel thousands of potentially fatal doses — plus digital scales, a cutting agent, sandwich bags used for packaging, and more than $1,700 in suspected drug proceeds.
Hendricks was taken into custody on the spot and charged with trafficking fentanyl (over 100 grams but under 200 grams), a serious felony under Massachusetts law that carries stiff mandatory minimum prison time because of the drug’s extreme potency and role in the opioid crisis.
The operation was backed by the DEA Cape Cod Task Force and the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office, underscoring a coordinated push by local, state, and federal agencies to choke off the flow of fentanyl across Cape Cod.
In a statement, Falmouth Police emphasized “that this arrest is part of broader efforts to disrupt drug trafficking operations that contribute to overdose deaths and community harm across Cape Cod. Fentanyl, a powerful synthetic opioid, has been a primary driver of the ongoing opioid epidemic, often mixed into other drugs and leading to unintentional overdoses.”
Police are urging residents to stay vigilant and report any suspicious drug activity, emphasizing that community tips remain one of the most effective weapons against the regional opioid epidemic.
