Hyannis News Video Notes from West Yarmouth: It was 3 a.m., rainy, cold, and dark when things were about to suddenly change. Route 28 in Yarmouth stretched out like a black ribbon of regret, slick with rain that washed away every trace of mercy. The emergency call came in: one soul left broken on the shoulder, the vehicle that struck him long gone. A black sedan slammed into an adult male pedestrian in his mid-30s at the intersection of Route 28 and Elton Road, shearing off its passenger-side mirror and leaving it behind as a cold calling card. The victim was discovered by a passing Yarmouth Fire Department ambulance—banged up but conscious and alert. He was quickly loaded into the rig and transported to Cape Cod Hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening. Yarmouth and state police flooded the scene, launching a search for the fleeing sedan. Then came the twist straight out of a midnight movie: just minutes into the investigation, two men walked back to the crash site on foot. One calmly claimed he was the driver. The other said he’d been the passenger. The admitted driver told officers the black sedan was parked roughly a quarter-mile away on Courtland Way. Yarmouth police located the vehicle exactly where he described. License plate checks revealed it was registered to the passenger, according to radio transmissions. A Barnstable County Sheriff’s crime-scene unit responded to photograph the car and gather evidence. Yarmouth police sources say the adult male suspect will be summoned to court on criminal motor vehicle charges. The full investigation remains active, and exact suspect identities and specific charges were not released as of this report. HN will provide official updates as they become available… The following Hyannis News Video documents the entire thing… [HN VIDEO – PRESS PLAY] P.S. – Today’s Hytown Vignette is brought to you by The Illinois Jacquet Sextet… [CLICK IT/CRANK IT! The defendant is presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
