ABOVE: A HyannisNews.com photo captures a disheartening scene in downtown Hyannis this past Labor Day Weekend, where bewildered visitors stand outside a darkened McDonald’s, grappling with the reality of the Town of Barnstable’s 1:00 a.m. to 3:00 a.m. business curfew. The image shows several young adults clustered near the drive-thru intercom, hoping to buy food after their evening on the town, only to find both the dining area and drive-thru closed. Their faces reflect frustration and disbelief. One young man expresses his disappointment by saying, “This place sucks,” a sentiment aimed at the Village of Hyannis in general. The photo encapsulates the broader economic toll of the curfew, as these downtown visitors — contributors to the local economy — face a town that has been forced to shut down, leaving everyone without food or services. Whether these disillusioned patrons will ever return to Hyannis with their tourism dollars remains uncertain, but the image suggests a lasting negative impression that will likely drive them to other more accommodating “parts unknown.”     IN OTHER OVERNIGHT NEWS:        ABOVE: An e-bike rider suffered a serious leg injury after colliding with a Jeep last evening, shortly before 11:00 p.m.  The Jeep driver was on her way to work at an assisted living facility when she put her directional, turning left with the green light… when suddenly the e-bike came “out of nowhere,” according to her version of events.  The e-bike rider may have been driving the wrong way in the wrong lane, according to sources.  The crash remains under investigation.  The e-bike involved in the crash was said to have cost $4,000, and have the ability to reach 50 MPH, according to the injured rider’s brother who arrived to take custody of the damaged bike.  The Barnstable Police Department is investigating.   EARLY MORNING VIDEO SCREEN GRABS:     In the above HN video screen grabs, the friends of a “mouthy” Hyannis harbor-side bar patron desperately try to stuff the intoxicated woman into a car before she could be arrested by Hyannis cops who were running out of patience, repeatedly telling her to leave…   P.S. – Today’s Hytown Vignette is brought to you by Diana Ross… [CLICK IT/CRANK IT!
