Needham, MA – Kaplansky Insurance, a leading independently owned agency headquartered in Needham, MA, has announced its acquisition of Russ Towers Insurance Agency, located in Tiverton, RI, and Seekonk, MA. This marks Kaplansky’s 36 th acquisition and their 2 nd in 2021.

“This is the start of a new chapter for us,” states Ely Kaplansky, President and CEO of Kaplansky Insurance. “As we continue to grow and expand our business, uniting with Russ Towers Insurance Agency allows us to reach clientele based in the Rhode Island area and continue our expansion into additional New England states.”

The merger with Russ Towers Insurance Agency will fast-track Kaplansky Insurance’s mission to provide the most competitive pricing in personal and commercial insurance services to a larger part of the New England region.

Mr. Russ Towers founded the Tiverton, RI agency in 1980, which flourished into a family-run operation offering personal and business insurance services. Russ’s children, Donna Towers Lemos, Scott Towers, and Mark Towers, joined him to work at the agency, where they shared a passion for serving clients. In 1988, Donna’s husband John opened a second location in Seekonk, MA, with the guidance and backing of Russ Towers.
Donna Towers Lemos ultimately became the President of Russ Towers Insurance Agency. Her dedication to the agency and the insurance industry is evident. She states, “We have enjoyed helping generations of families in our communities with their insurance needs and have been honored and humbled by their support of our agency.”

Under the terms of the acquisition, Donna will join Kaplansky Insurance as Agency Manager of the Seekonk office, and John Lemos will serve as Personal Lines Account Manager. Mr. Kaplansky expresses his excitement, stating, “We are thrilled that two professionals of the highly qualified Russ Towers team will be joining us.”
