YARMOUTH, MASSACHUSETTS – [HN VIDEO NOTES] – Multiple serious crashes suddenly tied up resources in the Mid-Cape area this afternoon, at around 4:00 p.m. As you will see in the following HN Video, a large “Got Junk?” commercial truck struck a major transformer-bearing utility pole in the area of 299 White’s Path at around 4:30 p.m. The crash caused power outages in the area. The driver was transported to CCH in unknown condition. The Massachusetts State Police are investigating the cause of the crash. A large section of White’s Path needed to be completely shut down while first responders and utility crews worked the scene. [HN VIDEO – PRESS PLAY] YARMOUTH, MASSACHUSETTS – [HN PHOTO NOTES] – At around 4:00 p.m., police and firefighters rushed to the intersection of Station Ave and Wood Road for a report of a crash involving a motorcyclist down and not moving. The motorcyclist was seriously injured and accident reconstruction experts were called to the scene. The motorcyclist was transported to Cape Cod Hospital in unknown condition… Station Ave and Wood Road were shut down in the area of the crash.       HN NOTE: Both of the above serious crashes in Yarmouth happened right after two other serious crashes in Barnstable; one where a vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree on Route 132 in front of the Toyota dealership (see following reader cellphone image), and the other crash was described as a head-on collision at the intersection of Route 28 and Phinney’s Lane. The extent of injuries at both crash scenes is unknown at the time of this report. Both crashes tied up traffic and resources. HN will provide updates when they become available.   There have been way too many recent crashes, causing many first responders to hypothesize as to what’s causing them…. with discussions asking whether it’s the warmer weather? Distractive driving? Impaired driving? People driving like complete douche bags? Or all of the above? Bottom line: Keep your eyes on the road – NOT on your phones! – and always drive carefully and defensively. And, for the love of God, DO NOT EVER DRIVE WHEN “BUZZED” OR IMPAIRED! This just in: at the time of this report – 6:20 p.m. – police and firefighters were working the scene of yet another single vehicle crash into a utility pole in the vicinity of Station Ave and Pine Grove Road, according to radio transmissions. P.S. – Today’s Hytown Vignette is brought to you by Donovan…  [CLICK IT/CRANK IT! HEADPHONES ABSOLUTELY OBLIGATORY!]
