HYANNIS, MASSACHUSETTS – [HN VIDEO NOTES] – An experienced Barnstable Police patrolman (with nearly 20 years in policework) made the smart call of calling off a pursuit last evening due to “bad” road conditions. As you will see and hear in the following HN Video, at around midnight last evening, the Barnstable Police patrolman radioed that he was in pursuit of a “dark colored” sedan (which as you’ll see, appeared black) that had just run a red light at Bearses Way and Route 28. The fleeing sedan was then observed recklessly traveling south, in the direction of North Street. HN was in the area and began moving into position to document the “passing shot” as the pursuit approached the North Street area. This all happened a short time after it had begun to snow. It was 17°F and snow was already accumulating in the roadway when the patrolman wisely called off the pursuit due to “bad” road conditions. HN was turning into the gas station at the corner of Bassett Lane and North Street right after the pursuit had been called off. As you will see, the fleeing black sedan suddenly approached, taking a right onto North Street without stopping for the red light. The sedan then turned onto Sea Street traveling south, blowing through red lights at the intersections of Main Street and South Street, while crossing into the oncoming lane at one point. The vehicle then continued to flee down Sea Street until it was out of sight… The reckless douchebag driving the sedan seemed hellbent on not stopping for anyone while completely disregarding the safety of the public.   And the patrolman’s decision to call off the pursuit during last evening’s hazardous conditions very likely prevented a high-speed crash. It was the right call to make. The Barnstable Police are investigating… Stay tuned…  HN will provide updates as they become available. The following HN Video highlights the suspect vehicle recklessly fleeing from police. [HN VIDEO – PRESS PLAY!] P.S. – Today’s Hytown Vignette is a brought to you by Hilary Hahn’s brilliant interpretation of J.S. Bach: Violin Concerto No. 1 in A Minor, BWV 1041: II. Andante…  [CLICK IT/CRANK IT! HEADPHONES ABSOLUTELY OBLIGATORY!]   * The initial details contained in the above report are based on police radio transmissions and information from police sources. The fleeing douchebag is presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
