      HYANNIS, MASSACHUSETTS –  [HN PHOTO NOTES]  –  Cape Cod Hospital was placed on a trauma alert last evening for a bicyclist who was badly hurt after being struck by a motor vehicle.  At around 9:45 p.m., police and firefighters responded the intersection of Center Street and Ridgewood Ave for a Car vs. bicyclist.  The first Barnstable Police officers on scene found a male bicyclist, approximately 35-years-old, suffering a large laceration on the top of his head.  He was conscious, alert, and able to communicate.  Hyannis FD Rescue arrived and began talking to the patient, eventually transporting him to CCH under a priority two trauma alert.  The driver of a Volkswagen Beetle remained on scene and cooperated with police.  The Barnstable Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash.
