Above HN photos: Two-vehicle Hyannis crash on South Street at the intersection with Pine Ave. early this Sunday morning… Two young adult males were banged up. Two ambulances responded. Injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
(Friendly HN Safety Reminder: the speed limit on South Street and its surrounding side streets is 30 MPH, 20 MPH when children are present. Also, stop signs are pretty important too. It’s a family neighborhood with several schools nearby. Please make a note of it.)
The Barnstable Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash…
Above HN video freeze-frame: Barnstable Police investigated a car vs. motorcycle crash on School Street in Cotuit early Saturday morning. The young adult male motorcyclist was transported to Cape Cod Hospital for injuries not believed to be life-threatening. Word at the scene was that the motorcyclist had trouble stopping in time. The Barnstable Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash.
(Friendly HN Safety Reminder: the speed limit on School Street is 25 MPH. It’s a busy family neighborhood. Please make a note of it.)
Above HN photo: the Barnstable Police responded to an address in Osterville Friday evening after a man discovered a stranger in his garage. The stranger allegedly broke in and, from the looks of things, managed to get into some adult beverages. Police arrived on scene and an ambulance was called to treat the stranger for some type of laceration on his foot. The stranger, who was reportedly a tad slobberknockered, was eventually lugged back BPD Headquarters for booking.
(Friendly HN Safety Reminder: please drink responsibly and stay out of other people’s garages… it also wouldn’t hurt to pick up your empties.)
Above HN photos: patrol officers in downtown Hyannis responded to a report of someone striking someone’s car with a baseball bat Friday evening. The disturbance played out on Main Street, near the intersection with High School. A B.O.L.O. was put out for a man on a bicycle, about 6 feet tall, no shirt, tattoos, (which doesn’t necessarily narrow it down very much in that part of town), with some type of wooden “paddle” in his hand. It appears some visitors to the area had an unpleasant interaction with the man on the bicycle. The bicyclist allegedly pulled out the “paddle” (which was apparently mistaken for a bat initially) and damaged the visitor’s vehicle.
Welcome to Hyannis!
A short time later in the East End, officers stopped another man on a bicycle that was not their suspect… but a lookalike. Despite having probable cause to arrest the man with the paddle, officers were unable to find him. Photos were taken of the damaged vehicle and the incident remains under investigation.
In short, the visitors with the damaged car were left up [bleep] creek without a paddle.
(Friendly HN Safety Reminder for Hyannis Visitors: please don’t “engage” with local bicyclists holding paddles…)
Above HN photos: the local animals like to check in on me from time to time when I’m sitting in some obscure parking lot typing up this nonsense early in the morning.
(Friendly HN Safety Reminder: please don’t feed our downtown coyotes in Hyannis. They might lose their fear of humans and end up getting hurt by one of our local yutes… our “little darlin’s” grow up to be much rougher and tougher than the average “local yutes” in other parts of town! God bless ’em… but a coyote really wouldn’t stand a chance!)
Above HN photo: a Barnstable Police patrolman found a young woman suffering a bloody nose and rib pain early this morning (shortly after midnight) on Barnstable Road in Hyannis. She was crying from some type of trauma. Prior to being transported, Hyannis FD EMTs were still having trouble finding out what had happened to her.
Above HN photo: the driver of a Ford Mustang was issued a traffic citation for allegedly “burning rubber” in busy downtown Hyannis Saturday morning.
(Friendly HN Safety Reminder: try not to drive like a cheeseball and you’ll probably get there safely without hurting others. Cheeseballs tend to make their journey a whole lot more difficult than it needs to be. The life of a cheeseball is either very short, or else tediously long and unnecessarily arduous. Take it from me. I was once a young, stupid cheeseball with a talent for effing things up royally… until I finally realized the cheesiness of my ways!)
Okay, ’nuff said… Now I’m going need everyone reading this to go right on ahead and have a very safe and splendiferous Sunday!
