HN PHOTO NOTES: Police, firefighters, tow truck operators, and utility crews responded to a tricky single vehicle crash at the Alltown gas station in Centerville, at around 6:15 p.m. last evening. The sun was glaring into the windshields of westbound traffic as three tradesmen were returning home from a very long day at work. The driver says he briefly dozed off and could not regain control when his vehicle veered over the curbing and crashed. All three were uninjured… but that’s not where the story ends… Their ride home had lost its front tires and was now hung-up leaking gasoline on top of a utility box containing low voltage wiring. Firefighters stood ready with a charged line as members of the Buckler’s Towing team gradually untangled, lifted, and removed the vehicle without causing sparks. The tricky removal operation took over an hour and a half. All crews were finally able to clear the scene around 8:00 p.m. The Barnstable Police Department is investigating… OTHER HN PHOTOS FROM LAST EVENING:   Barnstable Police patrol officers located a child after sunset last evening upon receiving a report she had just gone missing near Keyes Beach, at the end of Sea Street.     HAVING FUN AFTER DARK (blurred) – A group of young men were having a marvelous time volleying a soccer ball in the dark at Veteran’s Beach early last evening. In fact, it was such a beautiful evening, a number of other “local yutes” took the opportunity to meet up, socialize, and enjoy the park without the use of their electronic devices for a change. It was healthy, fun behavior… and refreshing to see. But then, unfortunately, one of the yutes decided to take it upon himself to behave like a banana head, suddenly speeding through the parking lot and fishtailing before almost striking an oncoming car. And I said to myself, “and sadly, there it is… there’s always that one knucklehead who ruins things for everyone!” Look, I was once a young banana head myself – I totally get it – but there’s a time and a place! A crowded beach parking lot is obviously not that place.  God forbid someone gets hurt… and I sincerely hope the knucklehead’s pals have a word with him about not ruining things for everyone else. “C’mon young man, smarten up! Figure out when not to act like a reckless banana head! You’re blowing up our spot!”       A young Barnstable Patrolman pulled over and took time to listen to a woman who had been having a difficult time navigating the area around the West End Rotary on foot last evening.  (Someone had called, concerned about her safety…) Officers assisted her in moving along across the street toward her destination after listening to her and making sure she was safe.   P.S. – Today’s Hytown Vignette is a brought to you by RUN DMC…  [CLICK IT/CRANK IT!]
