PHOTOS: Meghan Moore (left) & Sidney Capolino (New England College Athletic Department photos/HN)   SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, FLORIDA – Police in Miami-Dade have identified the victims of an apparent double murder/suicide as Meghan Moore, 25, and Sidney Capolino, 23, both recent graduates of New England College in New Hampshire. The Shootings occurred shortly before 9:00 p.m. Saturday evening, at an apartment building where the two victims were reportedly roommates. In a message from the New England College president to his college community, Dr. Wayne F. Lesperance, Jr. wrote: Dear New England College Community, I am writing to you today to share some tragic news. Two recent New England College graduates, Sidney Capolino [2022] and Meghan Moore [2021], were killed this past weekend in Florida. Meghan and Sidney were known to many on campus, and we are deeply saddened by this devastating news. We are keeping Sidney and Meghan’s families and friends in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. As we pause to process the gravity of the event, it is important that we support and care for each other. If you need support, counseling services are available at the NEC Wellness Center. While it is Spring Break the next two weeks and many of you are not here on campus, please know that our staff are here for you and able to support you. Please reach out to wellnesscenter@nec.edu to connect with a counselor. Both women had played Woman’s Ice Hockey together for New England College. According to her online Women’s Ice Hockey bio on the NEC website, Meghan Moore graduated from Barnstable High School in 2017, with her hometown listed as Centerville. She is the daughter of Marybeth and Billy Moore. Meghan’s bio also mentions her having a brother and sister. Sidney Capolino’s hometown is listed as Pawling, New York. According to a number of online sources, police responded to reports of shots fired at the Windsor Ludlam Trail apartment complex Saturday evening. Officers discovered one woman, later identified as Meghan Moore, suffering a gunshot wound outside of the building. (Meghan did not survive her wounds.)  While assisting Megan, police reportedly heard another gunshot coming from inside an apartment. SWAT was called. When officers entered, they found two additional individuals with fatal gunshot wounds, later identified as Sidney Capolino and Luis Napoles. According to NBC Boston, “Police said that Napoles, 40, had been dating Moore, and that Capolino was her roommate. Napoles had died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.” No further details available at the time of this report. NOTE: HN attended Barnstable High School with Marybeth (Kelley), Meghan’s mom. And I was extremely shocked to hear of this senseless tragedy through mutual friends of the family yesterday. The Moore and Kelley families are very well known and very much dearly loved locally. Billy Moore, a life-long Barnstable resident (along with Marybeth) has owned and operated several Hyannis businesses over the decades, with numerous employees, including Spanky’s Clam Shack on Ocean Street. Please keep the families of both Meghan and Sidney in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. P.S. – Today’s Hytown Vignette is brought to you by Masako…  [CLICK IT/CRANK IT!
