SOUTH YARMOUTH, Massachusetts – [HN VIDEO NOTES] –  Yarmouth Firefighters responded to 953 Route 28, the Harborside Suites, early this morning at around 1:00 a.m., for a report of flooding in one of the guest rooms. Firefighters investigated and coordinated with hotel maintenance in an effort to shut off the flow at the water main, according to radio transmissions. The situation was turned over to the hotel’s caretaker once the water had been “secured.” It’s uncertain what caused the guest room to flood, and the amount of damage is unknown at the time of this report. It did not appear, however, that any of the guests were displaced and outside in the cold during the incident. The Harborside Suites is where a number of “migrant” families are reportedly being sheltered. Back in September of 2023, HN reported and released video of a number of migrants from Haiti arriving by “luxury bus” at the Harborside Suites. It’s a controversial issue due to the fact that migrants are being sheltered and cared for by our state government when homeless citizens are still camping out in the cold across the “Commonwealth.” The following HN Video highlights the call and radio transmissions… [HN VIDEO  –  PRESS PLAY] EARLIER HN COVERAGE SURROUNDING THE MIGRANT ISSUE:   The following HN reports and video links are related to earlier coverage of the controversy surrounding the government housing “migrants” on Cape Cod before adequately taking care of our own homeless citizens: *** HN PHOTOS *** “THE MIGRANTS ARE COMING! What we choose not to see won’t hurt us… [hn photos] HN NOTES & MULLINGS ON THE MATTER: While driving back from the flooding at the Harborside Suites, A.K.A. “The Migrant Hotel,” I began thinking about the injustice of our government taking care of complete strangers (non-citizens) when we still have not adequately taken care of our own citizens. And I’m not sure if the flooding at the Harborside Suites is a big deal or not in terms of damage. At this point, we only know what the radio transmissions say, along with what I observed… which wasn’t much. What I did not see, however, was people being displaced by the flooding… forced out into the cold blustery Cape Cod evening, with temperatures plunging. It was an icy 27° when I crossed the town line into Barnstable at around 1:30 a.m… returning from the Harborside Suites.  I turned left toward downtown Hyannis at the Main Street/Route 28 fork. While still on Main Street, approaching the West End, something caught my eye as I glanced to the left.    And upon looking closer, I spotted a homeless man in a sleeping bag, sleeping on the frozen concrete sidewalk, covered with drifting snow… … and I couldn’t help but think at that moment, “Man, our government really sucks!” Sorry, but that’s literally what I thought. Right or wrong, that’s how I feel right now. Again, sorry about my anger… … but the horror and goddamn injustice of it all!   P.S. – Today’s Hytown Vignette is a brought to you by Heart…  [CLICK IT/CRANK IT!
