The Republican Message - Murder Democrats

Anger is the drug that drives the Tea Party, the first political party in America that seems to condone the use of gun play to get what it wants, even if it means murdering the president. Believe me, these nut jobs would be dancing in the streets the day after.

The Tea Party has accomplished what it set out to do during this past election. It nudged the Republican Party further to the Right out of the category of conservatism even Right-Wing politics and right into the open arms of Neofascism.

Not too long ago a group of Tea Party demonstrators were in the streets in front of Congress shouting that Democrats were Nazis and commies and socialists (sometimes you wonder if Tea Party members even know what these political badges mean).

Meanwhile, during all the commotion you couldn't miss the Republicans that had somehow lifted themselves to look out the windows of the Capitol. All of these elected representatives including the recently elected Speaker of the House were cheering on this Tea Party crowd and its chants of Democrats are Nazis. The Tea Party calling the Democrats "Nazis" is a bit of irony that could only get by in the today's mindless U.S.

This is how the Tea Party is working. First you demonize your enemy, make them seem less than human if you can. They want your guns, the Tea Party and the Republicans tell them. They are not Christians, They believe homosexuals should have the right to marry. They are baby killers. They are Socialists, possibly Communists.

It isn't long before some nut case with a roomful of guns at home and one in his hand zeros in on the nearest Democrat and the next thing you know half a dozen people are dead and an elected representative is in the hospital with a gunshot wound to the head.

Many will say that no such connection between Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and the man who tried to murder her was ever proven. They will say her near-assassination had nothing to do with Republican hate speech. I disagree. Tea Party members and the Republicans have been demonizing Democrats now ever since Obama was elected in 2008. At first their insults might have been aimed at their base.

Calling the President unAmerican, a foreigner, a Muslim, Socialist and more. One Republican congressman actually Tweeting to his constituents the message that "Obama doesn't believe in the Constitution; he believes in Socialism." All of these things are lies. But a surprising number of Americans learned to accept lies as the truth during the Bush II Administration. And today a public figure can say anything about the President and get away with it.

And you shouldn't doubt for a minute that Obama himself is their main target. Look at what happened last Tuesday at a "Town Hall" meeting in Georgia. Congressman Paul Broun (R) GA had just taken to the podium to answer questions.

His first question was "Who is going to shoot Obama?"

The mostly Republican and Tea Party Movement audience in the hall laughed, and so did the Congressman, according to all of the reporters present. (Broun would later deny this.)

But here was Broun's opportunity to dial down the gun play and hate rhetoric; his responsibility as a government leader was clear - that even talking about shooting the President is against the law. But Broun chose to go a different way.

"I know there's a lot of frustration with this president," he began, not confronting the man in the audience with the ugly question. Later he said he was "too stunned" to reply appropriately. And he reported the man in the audience to the authorities. Oh, and by the way Broun is also the guy who once Tweeted that Obama was against the Constitution and was a Socialist.

The gun imagery continues. From Tea Party Saint Sarah Palin we get "cross hairs", we get "target areas" we get "reloading." From former Tea Party candidate Sharron Angle we heard about Second Amendment solutions.

Even the lies have changed. The near-lies and half-lies of both parties have become outright and easily proven fictions by Republicans. Lies such as Obama is not a Christian, Obama was not born in this country, Obama is a Socialist, Obama is a Muslim, etc. Notice that these are not lies about Obama's stances on various issues of national concern, as one would expect in politics. These are lies of hate and demonization.

When you couple their outrageous lies with the barrage of gun imagery coming from Republicans and Tea Party members, the result is a President who is a target, and not just of threats. You have to remember when the Republicans explain that these lies are just out there to "fire up their base." they know better. Because underneath that base is a cellar.

A cellar of haters and gun nuts.

The Republicans are speaking to them too, whether they like it or not.
