FALMOUTH, MASSACHUSETTS –  A dramatic hit-and-run crash early Monday morning, August 25, 2025, at the intersection of Thomas B. Landers Road and Geggatt Road has left one driver injured and authorities searching for the suspect who fled the scene. The Falmouth Police Department is urging witnesses to come forward as they work to uncover the details of this chaotic incident. At 5:21 a.m., Falmouth Police responded to reports of a two-vehicle collision. Upon arrival, officers found a Subaru Outback overturned against a utility pole and a Toyota Highlander with severe damage in the middle of the roadway. The scene was further complicated by a small fire sparked when a damaged power line ignited nearby trees, prompting a swift response from Falmouth Fire and Rescue to extinguish the blaze and assess injuries. The operator of the Toyota Highlander was transported to Falmouth Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. However, the occupant(s) of the Subaru fled the scene before police arrived, leaving behind a trail of questions and a mangled vehicle. A preliminary investigation suggests the Subaru veered into the Toyota’s lane, causing the collision before striking the utility pole and flipping over. Despite a search effort aided by a Mashpee Police K9 unit, the driver and any additional occupants remain unidentified and at large. The Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Investigations processed the crash site, and Falmouth Police Detectives are actively investigating. Both vehicles were towed, and Eversource crews were dispatched to replace the broken utility pole. As of 11:00 a.m., Thomas B. Landers Road remained closed near Geggatt Road, and authorities advised drivers to seek alternate routes until repairs could be made. Police are calling on the public for help. Anyone with information or who witnessed the crash is urged to contact Detective Timothy Brandt at 774-255-4527 ext. 4663.
