HYANNIS, MASSACHUSETTS – A black motorcycle was seized by Barnstable Police in a parking lot behind a residence on Hiramar Road late yesterday afternoon, following an alleged failure to stop for officers. According to police, the rider ignored an attempted traffic stop in the vicinity of Attucks Lane earlier that day. The officer involved recognized the adult male rider from prior encounters, noting a distinctive neck tattoo. This led police to the motorcycle, which was found tucked between two parked vehicles at a known residence. As officers loaded the bike onto a Ziggy’s tow truck, a young adult male resident approached Hyannis News, and we began having a conversation in “Spanglish” (Spanish and English). He inquired whether he could take custody of the motorcycle to avoid it being towed. When asked if he knew the whereabouts of the rider, the resident claimed he had no idea. Hyannis News informed him that the motorcycle was being impounded due to the rider’s alleged failure to stop for police (and that not stopping for the police was a serious matter), and that the rider could resolve the matter by contacting or visiting the Barnstable Police Department in person. An arrest warrant was issued last evening for the alleged rider, who police say is familiar with the whereabouts of the Barnstable Police Department. Authorities are urging the individual to turn himself in at headquarters to address the situation. * All potential defendants are presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. A couple of the images show police documenting damaged property. In other photos, a man, with a bloodied and battered face, had reportedly fled before police arrived but later returned and was transported to Cape Cod Hospital for treatment. He now faces vandalism charges for allegedly damaging at least one motor vehicle during the altercation.
