HYANNIS, MASSACHUSETTS – At around 4:28 p.m. Saturday – July 26, 2025 – members of the Barnstable Police patrol division were dispatched to 199 Falmouth Road (Rte. 28) for a woman reporting her purse was just stolen from her person. The suspect was initially described as a male with a beard, possibly Hispanic, wearing a gray shirt, currently running toward the parking lot outside of Trader Joe’s, according to radio transmissions. All available BPD cruisers began saturating the vicinity of the Cape Cod Mall and Trader Joe’s, in the area of Route 132 and Route 28. The first officer on scene immediately radioed that the suspect was wanted for Unarmed Robbery, and the description was updated to a Hispanic male, approximately age 30, with a ponytail, wearing a gray shirt. At some point, police were able to view video from inside a convenience store near the crime scene, where the suspect allegedly began stalking the female victim, according to a source. The female victim reportedly works as cleaning person and was inside the store purchasing a lottery ticket. She was said to be carrying around $3,000 in cash inside her purse. It is believed the suspect caught a glimpse of her cash when she opened her purse to pay for the lottery ticket. According to a source, the store video footage allegedly shows the suspect begin to aggressively follow the woman around inside of the store. The robbery happened shortly thereafter… with the suspect running off with the woman’s purse full of cash. A short while later, a Barnstable Police K9 Officer reportedly located the victim’s empty purse in the mall parking lot. The purse was collected to be processed as evidence. A member of the Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit quickly arrived on scene to assist BPD officers with searching and gathering evidence. A short while later, Patrolman Spencer Jackson of the BPD reportedly spotted the suspect sitting outside of a nearby Hyannis hotel room. Officers set up surveillance on the hotel room, eventually obtaining an arrest warrant, along with a search warrant for the hotel room where the suspect was believed to be residing, according to police sources. Once armed with warrants, officers moved in, and the suspect was taken into custody without incident. While executing the search warrant, a large sum of money was recovered hidden inside the room. At the time of this report, it is believed that most (if not all) of the woman’s money was recovered, according to a source. Imuran Charlemagne, 46, “currently residing in Hyannis,” was transported to BPD Headquarters and charged with Unarmed Robbery, according to a police source.  (No further details available at the time of this report…) The investigation is ongoing.
