YARMOUTH PORT, MASSACHUSETTS – At around 1:35 a.m. this morning, Yarmouth Police responded to a report of a single vehicle crash into the woods along Route 6A, across from the intersection with Weir Road. The crash was called in by a roadside assistance company, concerned that the driver called saying she was run off the road by a “blue vehicle,” according to radio transmissions. While on the phone with roadside assistance, a male reportedly could be heard in the background asking the driver if she was intoxicated or on drugs. Officers arrived quickly and discovered a red Mazda crashed about 15 to 20 feet up an embankment, into the woods. A 51-year-old female driver from Eastham was placed under arrest for Operating Under the Influence of Drugs, along with other motor vehicle charges, according to police sources. There were no reported injuries, and no other occupants reported to be inside the vehicle. No further details available at the time of this report… * All defendants are presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
