CENTERVILLE, MASSACHUSETTS – [HN PHOTO NOTES] – A Massachusetts State Police lieutenant discovered a crash on Route 28 at the entrance to the Bell Tower Mall at around 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening. The trooper radioed his dispatch, and the Barnstable Police Department was immediately notified. The crash involved two sedans. Barnstable Police patrol officers and Centerville-Osterville-Marstons Mills firefighters arrived shortly thereafter. A total of three patients were evaluated by EMTs, with one person being transported to Cape Cod Hospital in a COMM FD ambulance. The patient’s condition was described as “priority three” and was not considered to be life-threatening. Route 28 needed to be completely shut down in both directions in the area of the Bell Tower Mall as officials worked the scene. A member of the sheriff’s crime scene unit responded to take photos. The Barnstable Police are investigating the cause of the crash. IN OTHER EARLIER NEWS: . HEAVY FIRE IN MULTIPLE YARMOUTH SHEDS . [YARMOUTH FD MEDIA STATEMENT]  At 2:32pm the Yarmouth Fire Department received a 911 call from the area of 12 Delivery Road in South Yarmouth, reporting a fire in the area 22 Salt Works Lane. Car 51 (Fire Chief) arrived on scene, confirming heavy fire in multiple sheds in the yard, with a boat nearby. Yarmouth Fire crews responded along with a crew from the Dennis Fire Department. The fire had also extended into a small area of brush in the adjacent property. . At the time of the call, the duty crew was handling 3 other emergency medical incidents. A full department recall was initiated, bringing in off duty firefighters to assist. Crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire and limit damage to the original fire building, unfortunately a boat and golf cart that were next the shed were also damaged. Heavy winds and dry conditions made the situation more challenging, but the fire was brought under control in approximately 20 minutes. . Crews remained on scene for about an hour of overhaul operations. Off duty personnel handled additional calls for service during the incident. . The cause of the fire is yet to be determined and is currently under investigation by the Yarmouth Fire Department. The Yarmouth Police Department assisted at the scene. There were no injuries to civilians or responders at the scene. . EARLIER HN PHOTO (in case you didn’t catch it on the HN Socials):   “McSettle Down!” [HN photo] . HN photo: A number of Barnstable cops responded to the McDonald’s drive-thru on North Street for at least two calls reporting a disturbance and HN was in the area to snap this photo this afternoon… The young men were already separated when officers arrived. It reportedly did not escalate beyond angry people shooting their mouths off. HN inquired whether someone didn’t get their “Happy Meal…” which turned out not to be the case… and it still remains uncertain what exactly caused the loud disturbance which alarmed bystanders and local seagulls hunting discarded French fries. All parties ended up driving away in separate directions firmly clutching their McMeals. . It’s that time of year, folks… when nice weather and fast food causes some men to get a little too frisky. My advice to all young men: “Do Not Engage – It’s Never Worth It!” (I know, easier said than done… but nonetheless!) And please be extra safe and healthy out there! . And McSettle Down!       P.S. – Today’s Hytown Vignette is brought to you by Donovan…  [CLICK IT/CRANK IT! HEADPHONES ABSOLUTELY OBLIGATORY!]
