HYANNIS, MASSACHUSETTS – [HN VIDEO NOTES & DEVELOPING DETAILS] –  Barnstable Police and Hyannis Firefighters responded to the parking lot outside of the Tiki Port restaurant shortly before 2:00 a.m. this morning (Sunday) for a report that two pedestrians had just been struck by a white pickup truck. The pickup truck reportedly left the scene. Moments later, an alert Barnstable Police patrolman spotted a white pickup truck fitting the description of the suspect vehicle. As you will see in the following HN Video, Barnstable police officers stopped the suspected pickup truck on Route 28 at the intersection with Hiramar Road. One occupant was eventually arrested. A second occupant was taken into protective custody. And a third occupant was eventually transported to Cape Cod Hospital with some type of head injury. Back at the scene outside of Tiki Port, a woman in her early twenties was transported to the Cape Cod Gateway Airport where she was eventually airlifted inside a Medflight helicopter to an off-Cape trauma hospital. The second patient at Tiki Port was transported to Cape Cod Hospital. The Tiki Port parking lot was cordoned off with crime scene tape as investigators worked the scene. A member of the sheriff’s crime scene unit responded and collected blood samples for DNA analysis, along with photographs of additional evidence. A Barntable Police accident reconstruction expert also responded. While investigators were working the busy crime scene at Tiki Port, Barnstable and state police cruisers rushed to the parking lot outside of Cape Cod Hospital to keep the peace after a group of about 15 people (believed to have been involved in the Tiki Port disturbance) were reported to be on scene. Police observed the group had dispersed prior to their arrival, but stood by in the parking lot for a period of time just in case… HN is working on gathering official details and will update this report as they become available. The following HN Video highlights four scenes, the crime scene outside of Tiki Port, the traffic stop at Rte. 28 and Hiramar Road, the Medflight from the airport, and the scene outside of Cape Cod Hospital.
