FALMOUTH, MASSACHUSETTS –  According to Monday’s media statement – 2/24/25 – U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement apprehended an illegally present Brazilian national charged with raping a Massachusetts resident. William Robert Vasconcelos Santos, 21, was arrested by I.C.E. agents in Falmouth on January 21, 2025. “Willian Robert Vasconcelos-Dos Santos is charged with horrifically victimizing a Massachusetts resident and represents a significant threat to the residents of our communities,” said ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Boston acting Field Office Director Patricia H. Hyde. “In this case, we appreciate the Falmouth District Court honoring the ICE immigration detainer and allowing our officers to take custody of Vasconcelos in the safety of a jail cell rather than having to arrest him at large. ICE Boston will continue to prioritize public safety by arresting and removing illegal alien offenders from our New England communities.” According to I.C.E., U.S. Border Patrol previously arrested Vasconcelos after he illegally entered the United States near San Diego on April 10, 2024. Border Patrol agents served Vasconcelos with a notice to appear before a Department of Justice immigration judge and released him on an order of recognizance. On January 20, 2025, Falmouth Police arrested Vasconcelos and charged him with rape. I.C.E. agents found out about the Falmouth arrest and lodged an immigration detainer with the Falmouth District Court against Vasconcelos later that day. On January 21, 2025, Falmouth District Court honored the I.C.E. detainer and released Vasconcelos into I.C.E. custody. According to their media statement, “ICE served him with a notice of custody determination upon his arrest.” Vasconcelos remains in I.C.E. custody. No further details were available at the time of this report… This latest I.C.E. arrest on Cape Cod comes on the heels of the Barnstable Superior Court and the Barnstable County Correctional Facility reportedly ignoring an I.C.E. detainer in December of last year (2024), and subsequently releasing a “noncitizen” accused of felony rape and extortion charges back into the local Cape Cod community.
