HYANNIS, MASSACHUSETTS – [HN VIDEO NOTES] – Barnstable Police officers surrounded a house on Oak Neck Road last evening after a man allegedly pulled a firearm on his roommate. At around 9:00 p.m. Thursday, officers met the alleged firearm assault victim in a dark cemetery on Oak Neck Road. About two hours later, the man accused of pulling a gun on his roommate was in custody, being transported back Barnstable Police Headquarters where he was expected to be charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, along with other possible offenses. The assault with a firearm allegedly occurred at 250 Oak Neck Road. The alleged victim was able to exit the residence and meet police at the nearby Oak Neck Cemetery. Officers were able to surround the house under the cover of darkness. And about two hours into the call, officers were able to finally make phone contact with the alleged suspect, who exited the residence with his hands above his head. He was then taken into custody without incident. At least one senior member of the Cape Cod SWAT team assisted in the arrest which did not require a full SWAT deployment due to the cooperation of the alleged suspect. A BPD Detective responded, along with a member of the sheriff’s crime scene unit… The alleged assault was still under investigation at the time of the following HN video and above report. No additional details were available… * The above details are based on police radio transmissions and information from sources on scene. The defendant is presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. The following HN Video highlights the arrest. Temperatures were in the mid 20s and felt more like 12°F due to the steady breeze. The cold, dark conditions hampered distant focusing at times. All footage needed to be taken at a healthy distance without the assistance of artificial lighting or IR illuminators, as not to backlight and possibly endanger officers approaching the residence. Some of the shots used infrared technology without the assistance of artificial IR illuminators. All shots were handheld.
