Two Somerville men were arrested Wednesday for allegedly trafficking Fentanyl and Cocaine, according to a Barnstable Police Department media statement. The arrest was the result of an investigation during the past several months, where the Barnstable PD partnered with the Massachusetts State Police Gang Unit, Massachusetts State Police Cape & Islands Detective Unit, and the Drug Enforcement Administration Cape Cod Task Force. Their focus was to “combat trafficking and violent crimes in the Cape Cod Community,” the BPD statement says. The investigation reportedly resulted in the arrest of 23-year-old Jonathan Gomes and 25-year-old Nathaniel Wallace-Gomes, both from Somerville. Investigators say both Gomes and Wallace-Gomes “were identified as traveling to Cape Cod for the sole purpose of selling illicit narcotics.” Both men were arrested Wednesday by the aforementioned agencies. Both were charged with Trafficking Fentanyl and Cocaine. Investigators say they seized 105 grams of Fentanyl and 122 grams of Cocaine from Gomes and Wallace-Gomes. Both Gomes and Wallace-Gomes were reportedly transported to Barnstable Police Headquarters for booking on “numerous narcotic violations,” including Conspiracy and Trafficking Fentanyl and Cocaine. Both men were reportedly arraigned Thursday – July 11, 2024 – at Falmouth District Court. Both were reportedly ordered to be held without bail for 90 days. “Furthermore, Johnathan Gomes is scheduled for a dangerousness hearing on July 18, 2024. After the 90 days Nathaniel Wallace-Gomes will be held on 25k cash bail,” the BPD statement concludes. HN NOTE: The details contained in the above report are based on a Barnstable Police Department media statement.
