Today is one of those rare and wonderful days where both Sadie and I have a weekday off together. The weather is absolutely perfect—no humidity, clear blue skies, and a gentle breeze. It’s the kind of day that just begs for an adventure, so we’ve decided to take our cherished 1982 Porsche 911SC for a drive down to Cape Cod.   Our plan is delightfully unplanned. There’s something liberating about setting off without a strict itinerary, allowing the day to unfold naturally. We know one thing for sure, though: we’ll be stopping at The Flying Bridge in Falmouth for lunch or dinner. This place has become a favorite of ours, particularly for their incredible lobster rolls. If you’ve never tried one, imagine succulent, fresh lobster meat nestled in a buttery, toasted roll—it’s pure bliss.   Cape Cod has been a special destination for us since Sadie moved to the US in 2008. Each visit feels like a new adventure, with its charming towns, scenic beaches, and rich history. Today, we’ll be scouting out some new places to explore on future summer trips. Perhaps we’ll discover a hidden beach with soft, powdery sand, or stumble upon a quaint little shop full of unique treasures. Cape Cod’s endless charm always leaves us with a sense of wonder and excitement.   Our drive will be accompanied by a carefully curated playlist of classic 80s and 90s tunes. There’s something about those songs that instantly transports us back to simpler times. From the energetic beats of Madonna to the soulful sounds of Pearl Jam, our music choices will be the perfect soundtrack for our journey. As the Porsche’s engine purrs and the open road stretches ahead, the combination of the car’s classic charm and the nostalgic tunes will create an unforgettable experience.   As we leave Glocester and head towards the Cape, we’ll pass through some beautiful New England scenery. Rolling hills, quaint villages, and lush green landscapes will line our route, providing plenty of opportunities for impromptu photo stops. The journey itself is as much a part of the adventure as the destination, and we plan to savor every moment of it.   The Flying Bridge in Falmouth is more than just a restaurant for us—it’s a place filled with memories. The first time we visited, we were captivated by the stunning waterfront views and the relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. Over the years, it has become a tradition to stop there for a meal whenever we’re on the Cape. Their lobster rolls are legendary, and we always look forward to indulging in this quintessential New England dish. We might even splurge on some clam chowder or fried clams to complete the meal.   After our meal, we plan to explore Falmouth a bit more. The town has a charming downtown area with boutiques, galleries, and cafes. We love strolling through the streets, popping into shops to browse for unique finds, and maybe picking up a souvenir or two. If time permits, we might take a short drive to one of the nearby beaches to enjoy the sea breeze and the sound of the waves.   As the day winds down, we’ll reflect on our spontaneous adventure and the joy it brought us. Days like this are a reminder of why we work so hard and how important it is to take time for ourselves. The freedom of the open road, the beauty of Cape Cod, and the pleasure of each other’s company make for a perfect day off.   We’ll be sure to share our Cape Cod discoveries and any new favorite spots we find along the way. For now, we’re off to make the most of this beautiful day. Here’s to spontaneous adventures, the joy of the journey, and the simple pleasures that make life truly special.
