HN PHOTO NOTES: It was beautiful Saturday evening for the annual “Festa Junina” (June Festival), which is part of the traditional Brazilian festivals leading up to the nativity of St. John the Baptist on June 24. It’s basically a large June party with music, food, games, traditional rural costumes, dancing and family fun… and it’s one of my favorite events at the beginning of every summer.  (These are friendly, happy Hyannis people!) This annual Hyannis celebration takes place on the grounds of the Saint Francis Xavier Church on South Street. It’s a popular annual party that continues to grow larger and larger every year. This year the festival space extended from a large grassy area out into the parking lot in order the accommodate the number of extra activities, food stands, restrooms, and a raised bandstand. The celebration began on Saturday and will continue into Sunday.
