MASHPEE, MASSACHUSETTS –  Aliyah Konton has been found and is safe [in the Town of Barnstable], according to Mashpee officials. [DEVELOPING] Also, according to a Mashpee Police Department media statement, there’s an ongoing investigation into 15-year-old Aliyah being assaulted on school grounds. “On May 25, 2024,” the statement reads, “The Mashpee Police Department initiated a criminal investigation into an alleged assault and battery at the Mashpee High School between two students. Further information revealed there was a video of this assault on the social media platform “snapchat”. After the initial report a full investigation, to include, but not limited to, interviews, evidence collection, and information gathering was conducted. Once the investigation was complete, we consulted with the Cape and Island’s District Attorney’s Office to determine appropriate criminal charges. As a result of this investigation seven counts of Assault and Battery (M.G.L. Chapter 265 Section 13A) have been filed in the Falmouth District Court Juvenile Division against a thirteen year old juvenile female involved in this incident. The investigation into potential accomplices is still ongoing and again, it would be inappropriate for me to comment on this portion of the investigation until this aspect of the investigation has been completed,” according to the statement sent out by Chief Scott Carline of the Mashpee Police Department. The juvenile female victim, who has just been reported “found safe” at the time of this report, was reported missing on June 2, 2024.  She had been the focus of an “intense search” using multiple local, state and federal resources. No official word on what caused the juvenile female to go missing. There is also no official word on what may have caused her to be allegedly attacked on school grounds. HN NOTE:  The video put out on social media (which HN has reviewed) is nothing short of disturbing, to say the very least. It appeared to be a bullying incident, at the very least. HN is aware of another recent bullying incident at Mashpee High School where female students allegedly threatened another female student. Some are asking whether Mashpee Public Schools are doing enough to make the victims of bullying feel safe in their schools. But again, there is still no official word on what may have motivated the alleged attack captured on video, where a 15-year-old female victim was eventually reported missing… but now, thankfully, the endangered-missing Mashpee child has been found safe… [DEVELOPING] [MASHPEE POLICE CHIEF VIDEO STATEMENT: MISSING CHILD FOUND SAFELY IN BARNSTABLE  –  PRESS PLAY]
