WEST YARMOUTH, Massachusetts –  A woman was savagely beaten with a lamp and robbed when she opened her hotel door for a couple claiming to need help early this morning.  Yarmouth Police received a 911 call with an open line and a woman heard screaming shortly before 4:00 a.m., according to radio transmissions.  The call led officers to a hotel room at the Days Inn on Route 28, where they found a woman badly beaten and bleeding.  She was also robbed of her valuables. The suspects, a woman and a man, fled on foot.  The suspects reportedly used a ruse to lure the victim to her hotel door, where they claimed to need help.  When the woman opened the door, she was jumped and beaten with one of the lamps inside her room, according to sources.  The injured robbery victim was transported to Cape Cod Hospital for emergency care.  A Yarmouth Police Detective responded and began working the case. A member of the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit responded to document evidence.  A Yarmouth Police K9 unit had a strong track which led officers into the old, overgrown cranberry bogs behind CCH, where people have been known to live in tents. The female suspect was described as a “Hispanic” looking woman wearing dark clothing.  The male was heavyset, with a beard.
