HN NOTE: It was apparently a modified response from SWAT personnel, where they didn’t have to go (what I call) “full Ninja Turtle.” There were no armored vehicles, or “Rook” platforms with “YOU ROOK MARVELOUS!” painted on the front. There were no green dudes running around in flak jackets, ballistic helmets, repelling walls, chanting, “HUT, HUT, HUT.” This scene was handled differently as far as I could see, from my far-off position, well away from the families taking cover behind particleboard and drywall…   CENTERVILLE, Massachusetts – Barnstable Police had their hands full with a very chaotic scene last evening on Zeno Crocker Road. As you will see and hear in the following HN Video, at around 7:45 p.m., police responded to 109 Zeno Crocker when a woman renting a room there told police someone had thrown her belongings into the street. While responding, officers were updated that a male had just approached a home in the vicinity of 109 Zeno Crocker, telling occupants that someone had just shot at him. There was reportedly as many as four gunshots, according to radio transmissions. Moments later, responding officers received another update that a third caller reported an operator of car trying to hit someone in the middle of the road, and that he had just run over a stop sign. Still baffled, officers believed at least two named suspects had already fled the area in separate vehicles. A patrolman requested COMM FD Emergency Medical Services for a woman at the intersection of Zeno Crocker and Prince Hinckley Road. She apparently had been inside a vehicle which flattened a stop sign before crashing into somebody’s front hedges. When HN arrived on scene, first responders were attending an injured female assault victim, suffering from a non-life-threatening leg wound. (She had not been shot. In fact, nobody had taken a bullet.) The injured woman was loaded into an ambulance and transported to Cape Cod Hospital. A male from the crashed vehicle – possibly the driver – was vomiting into the hedges, apparently sick from the anxiety of the situation. A third occupant of the vehicle, an uninjured woman, was trying to cope with her own anxiety. After deep breaths, she appeared relieved her dog, Marley, had not been harmed. A detective spoke with her as she sat on the grass, holding her dog, which seemed to calm her. A call went out for SWAT personnel as officers tried to piece together what had just happened. It was believed one of the suspect was still inside the residence at 109 Zeno Crocker. The house was surrounded, lit up with take-down lights, as officers took turns giving commands over the cruiser’s P.A. system. They wanted possible occupants to come to the door peacefully. During a period of no response, officers knocked on neighboring homes, telling families to essentially take cover inside. According to radio transmissions someone inside eventually began communicating with officers. Moments later, a ranking SWAT member radioed there may not have been gunfire after all. Based on details from sources and an obvious debris field of “belongings” in the middle of Zeno Crocker, it appears there certainly was some type of violent altercation. One story was the fight had started over stolen rent money and a dispute about too many people piling into the residence looking for a place to stay. The investigation eventually shifted from possible ‘barricaded armed idiot,’ to malicious destruction with barbaric assaults, possibly involving a number of roommates getting to know one another a little better. SWAT dudes were able to stand down, for the time being… Some of the occupants of 109 Zeno Crocker are no strangers to police. In recent years it has been the scene of fist fights, smashed windshields and ongoing clashes with responding police officers. The neighbors sometimes have called about brawls spilling into the street. At the time of this report, it’s uncertain whether anyone has been taken into custody yet. But the good news is Marley the Wonder Dog was unharmed, last seen snuggling with mom, and still as adorable as ever. The following highlights cops swarming a raging Centerville commotion, while receiving reports of possible shots fired… [HN VIDEO – PRESS PLAY] HN will provide updated official details as they become available.
