HYANNIS –  A firearm (possibly a 9mm or 40mm handgun) was collected as evidence after plainclothes officers stopped a Jeep SUV on Yarmouth Road near the busy intersection with Route 28 earlier this evening. According to Lt. Jennifer Ellis of the Barnstable Police, possible charges related to the firearm are still under investigation.  The driver of the Jeep was taken into custody during the stop and is currently under arrest on Motor Vehicle charges, with possible additional charges to follow.  A second occupant of the Jeep was not taken into custody.  A member of the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit responded to photograph evidence.  The investigation is active and HN will provide additional details as they become available.          P.S. – Today’s Hytown Vignette is a brought to you by The English Beat…  [CLICK IT/CRANK IT!]    *  HN NOTE:  The initial details contained in the above report are based on police radio transmissions and information from sources on scene.
