Romney Supporters -A Strange Mix of Nuts, Racists and the Confused

By Columnist, TRB - Romney's supporters are quite possibly the strangest mixture of people I have met in my life. On the low end are the imbeciles, whose numbers are significantly high. These are the folks who can't add or subtract, but can actually "understand" the many twists and major turns Romney makes in his political philosphy every morning while he is brushing his teeth, or the "help" are brushing them for him. A guy is entittled to changing his opinion, they will tell you. And besides, how can you expect someone to vote for you if you don't agree with them on the issues? Ironically, the imbeciles have a better "take" on Romney than anyone out there.

Romney's politics are simple. You say what they want to hear. depending upon which audience you're in front of. Or you lie. Lying is okay because you can always say you "misspoke" later. In a nut shell this is Romney's entire political blueprint - say and do anything to get into the Oval office. The imbeciles - or the greater part of his supporters - understand this. They watch television and they know how the "real" world works. He's counting on them.

But enough of the imbeciles. They will always find a "Romney" candidate for whom to vote. Some middle class voters who received failing grades in math seem to have no idea that Romney's plan to "heal" the economy involves taking food from their mouths, money from their wallets and pocketbooks, their healthcare, their mortgage deduction, etc. (Some of these middle-class anti-Obama folks overlap the racist Romney vote, which the news media would rather not talk about.)

Then there is a smaller group of "intellectuals" (indoctrinated really) or creative people who will spend hours telling you how vital it is that they vote for Romney and screw themselves. Seriously, I don't know where these people are coming from. Some are closet racists. Some are always one step behind the culture, believing that it's actually "cool" to stand in place while other "creatives" outpace you. The Ted Nugents of the world.

You try your best to explain to fellow writers and artists (fortunately, very few are for Romney) that turning around and going back to the Bush Era is a bad idea, but this small voting block are already right-wingers - so it's a waste of time.

The racists are the most interesting group of Romney supporters - interesting because they are right out in the open, including the candidate himself. As many know, Romney is a high official in The Church of the Latter Day Saints, or the "Mormons." Almost 30 years ago. in the 1970s, the Mormons decided that African Americans were human beings and therefore could be "priests" in the Mormon church. (They arrived late for the party.) Up until then, when Romney himself was a priest and possessed much political power within the church, Blacks were forbidden to be priests. Later they were allowed, but through no effort by Romney.

The news media uses coded words to discuss Romney's and many of his supporter's racism. They call it attempts by the opposition to make Obama seem like "the other" Yes, but more than that Republicans and some of Romney's allies have called him lazy, a socialist, an Arab, an illegal alien who forged his birth certificate. That is not even the half of it.

Racism.

At the end of every speech Romney looks out into the all-white crowd and says, "Let's take back the White House." You should be there just once to see and hear that, and the crowd's reaction. Just once.

Then you would know what this is really all about.
