By Columnist - TRB - They could be a bulldog and a poodle, but they are buddies, the prime minister of Israel, "BB" Netanyahu and the American presidential contender Mitt Romney. These two have known one-another for more than 30 years. They first met at a "financial firm" in Boston and have been close friends ever since. Naturally Netantahu wants Mitt to win the U.S. presidency, especially since he and Mitt seem to be speaking the same language on what to do about Iran, namely, threaten it with war if it doesn't completely give up its nuclear ambitions. Mitt would also like to re-start the Cold War in  Russia. Then there is the question of the attacks on two U.S. embassies and the murders of four embassy employees including the U.S. Ambassador to Libya.

Like many people, I don't believe in coincidences. Listen to this set of coincidences? Just a few days ago, Netanyahu was on the phone with Obama, doing his best to move Obama away from America's present path of economic sanctions against Iran - unless it proves that it is not trying to manufacture nuclear weapons and signs a treaty to that effect. Iran has refused so far. But the sanctions appear to be working. Iran's currency has slipped in value since they were put in place, Israeli's prime minister prefers the more dangerous route of direct confrontation, even bombing. But he did not move Obama an inch.

Then he had a complaint. The U.N. is set to open in September and the U.S. has not invited Israel to any pre-opening meetings. Obama pointed out that the prime minister had not asked for any meetings. This is  all very typical of Israel unfortunately, who is used to having its butt kissed in these matters. Not this time.

The conversation was probably still fresh on Obama's mind this morning when he learned that two U.S. embassies, one in Libya and one in Egypt were under seige by "radical Islamists," who were upset by a short film clip said to be "anti-Muslim" that was circulating on the web throughout the Middle East. Murdered by these nuts were the U.S. Ambassador to Libya and three of his aides and the embassy in Cairo was surrounded by angry Egyptians and the U.S.  Marine Corps were on the way.

Also on the way to the nearest podium was Mitt Romney, "BB's" friend. Mitt appeared all fired up with rehearsed anger and talked about how "disgraceful" it was that radicals were surrounding our embassy in Egypt. especially since we had helped them so much in their revolution. This was evidence that our president didn't know what he was doing. Also, our Ambassador had sent word to the protestors that the crazy Florida pastor's opinions did not represent official U.S. policy. Well Mitt did not think it was right for the embassy to pick on the pastor.

Then, somehow, word got to Mitt that four embassy employees in Libya incuding the Ambassador had lost their lives. So he disappeared, realizing that maybe it would not be the right time to criticize the president or his ambassadors. He thought for awhile, spoke to the predators on his staff and decided to double down.

Meanwhile, Hillary had to call some embassy employee's families and tell them their loved one would not be coming home, and Obama had to meet with military chiefs and get down to the serious business of capturing the murderers in Libya and breaking up the crowds around the embassy in Egypt.

Through all of this there was one thing that could not be missed by anyone with their eyes open. It was Romney. The expression on his face was not unlike a smile. It is truly bizarre.
