Political parties in the US and elsewhere have always seemed to be "fronts" for something else. On the surface they're for everyone, something for everyone. Problems? They are working hard to end those problems Sure, step over here a minute and let me show this Bill.
They work for you, they work for the people. At least that is the patina; and it is very thick. Once you get beyond that hard shell there's something else, something or someone for which the Party works. And it is not you. It is usually a special interest group Could be an evil special interest. Could be pretty tame. It is just not you.
We have had the Democrats and Republicans around for so long they have almost fused. They are at least joined at the hip. The governments working orders today are simple. They are transparent and we all know the Left, Right and Middle. The government seeks to steal as much money as possible from working people without getting them too angry in the process. They know that could screw the whole works up. So they are practicing moderation in their theft.
The money they take from working people (trillions in the past three years) goes back to their corporate sponsors who tip them as you would tip a waiter. These tips can amount to hundreds of thousands in campaign funds and can pay for political ads on television full of half truths and outright lies, and can ultimately keep this useless "representative of the people" in Congress for life.
That fairly accurately describes the political system we have at this present moment. The only thing left out is that they are now actually owned. Really. The banks own the government. The drug makers. The makers of weapons systems, the insurance companies, the mass media.Taken together, they are the government. They paid for it. They don't even know what a representative democracy is anymore. It sounds "socialist" to them. Maybe even dangerous.
One thing all working people have to remember is that political parties make the government. The government does not make political parties. The government will be what the controlling political parties want it to be. In other words, it is the political parties who are running the U.S. into the ground. And by Constitutional standards, they should all be in jail
Forget about every political party now in existence. All of them have hidden agendas, and, for the most part, dreams of power over people - instead of the other way around. Take the U.S.Labor Party, sounds leftist until you realize it was once headed by crackpot Lyndon La Roche. Or the American Labor Party, which is a right-wing organization, whose main mission is to do away with entitlements all together. Then the Workers Party. I have nothing personal against socialists and Marxists but they are not going to win in November. And besides they hold too many meetings and generally believe they are always right.
This corporate government has destroyed our public school system, so that now we are behind many Third World nations. The children of the wealthy can still afford to go to good schools. But why educate the poor? It will only make them more aware of their station in life. The U.S. corporate government has watched as millions of U.S. citizens lost their homes, they have completely screwed up our health care system by letting privately owned insurance companies run it, they have pushed us into two illegal, bloody and expensive wars, they have ignored the banks and investments houses as they created a Depression they could profit from while at the same time stealing the nest eggs of millions of Americans. This is not the U.S. most U.S. citizens want.
The Wisconsin Labor Party has already called for a Tea Party for the Left. And that might be good idea. If you take a look around you can see that even a collection of crackers such as today's Tea Party has been able to influence these greedy bribe-taking politicians.
In this Wisconsin case of union busting we find the Koch brother billionaires, whose desire to destroy the environment knows no bounds, whose carelessness in sending men into their dangerous mines is part of their overall character. They have been writing a lot of checks to kill the union. After all they believe they own the world. Apparently they got up one morning and over their Frosted Flakes decided to break America's unions, especially going after collective bargaining. What they are looking for is less rules and regulations, no EPA, no rights for workers.
And perhaps they thought they could pay for it.
Problems is the Koch brothers have no sense of history. Like most of these narcissistic billionaires. Perhaps they don't remember the riot at the Chicago Democratic Convention in 1968. Maybe they forgot the African Americans lighting cities and whole sections of cities on fire to get the white man's attention during the Civil Rights Movement. The Koch brothers want to destroy the unions?
They can be assured it will not happen without a fight like this nation hasn't seen since the Civil War.
I would suggest that the Koch Brothers write off their bribe money to the governors who are going to help them in this "glorious endeavor" of killing the unions. It won't happen. And you will lose all your billions Mr. and Mr. Koch.
Like many in this U.S. today I am a member of the post-war baby boom. We are in our late 50's, 60's and early 70's for the most part, and many of us know something about demonstrations. Summer is great for demonstrations and we will be there this entire Spring and Summer in numbers you didn't ever think you would see in the streets again, and we will defeat every attempt you make to destroy the unions. We will march again in much larger numbers than the first time. Why? Because this march will be racially integrated.
The title of this piece "Get Together One More Time" is taken from a song Jim Morrison wrote with the Doors many years ago. But it sounds fresh and contemporary. The rats are still in the house and someone has to get them out.
The Koch brothers and their friendly Republican governors in the Mid-West are doomed to failure. If I were a governor in the Mid-West I would be turning these clowns away at my door. Their billions can destroy a lot of things and they have. But they can't destroy the unions because we won't let them
All they can do is unite working people around this nation, people who are sick and tired of towing the line for this criminal corporate government. We will unite. We will form a Third Party more powerful than you have ever seen and we will take this government back.
