FALMOUTH, MASSACHUSETTS – A Cessna 170 made an emergency landing on Black Beach near Drift Road in Falmouth, around 2:15 PM on Thursday after running out of fuel, according to various online sources (see above Falmouth PD images). No injuries or damage were reported in the incident. According to a WCVB Boston report, the pilot refueled the aircraft using red gas cans. Falmouth firefighters and others assisted by pushing the plane along the beach to find firmer ground for takeoff. After multiple attempts, with the plane’s wheels initially stuck in soft sand, it gained enough speed to lift off. The Cessna circled and landed safely at a nearby airfield, with the pilot waving and giving a thumbs-up to the WCVB “Sky5” helicopter crew. The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the incident.
