ABOVE PHOTOS: Sources tell HN that Tuesday evening’s half-kilo coke seizure in downtown Hyannis led to a massive follow-up investigation at a commercial building on Bodick Road in Hyannis on Wednesday. It involved at least two K9 units, state police, local police, and members of the local DEA – [Reader cellphone images/ HN edits] HYANNIS, MASSACHUSETTS – According to sources, along with a media statement from Cape & Islands District Attorney Robert Galibois, Ilya Zinov, 36, of Hyannis, and Jermaine Dudley, 33, of New Bedford, were both arraigned in Barnstable District Court on Wednesday for their alleged involvement in suspected cocaine trafficking in downtown Hyannis. On Tuesday evening – August 5, 2025 – a couple of Barnstable Police patrol units were dispatched to provide backup for state trooper off with a vehicle in the area of Barnstable Road and North Street. A Massachusetts State Trooper had reportedly been conducting surveillance on Jermaine Dudley from New Bedford to downtown Hyannis. Barnstable Police detectives also joined the surveillance when Dudley arrived in Hyannis, according to the DA’s media statement. Dudley and Ilya Zinov were allegedly observed to engage in a quick meeting inside a vehicle at a parking lot at North Street and Barnstable Road. Based on his training and past experiences, this alleged observation led the state trooper to believe that a narcotics exchange had just occurred between Dudley and Zinov. The DA’s media statement continues as follows: The Trooper approached Mr. Dudley and Mr. Zinov and the Trooper ultimately recovered over ½ kilo of suspected cocaine from the parties and a large some of currency. Both parties were arrested and charged with Trafficking in Cocaine, 200+ grams. Search warrants for addresses associated to Mr. Zinov were issued by the Falmouth and Barnstable District Courts. Members of the Massachusetts State Police, State Police Detectives assigned to the Cape & Islands DA’s Office, Barnstable Police Department Detectives and K-9 Unit, Crime Scene Services for MSP, MSP K-9 Unit, and the Cape Cod DEA’s Task Force joined together to execute the search warrants. At the time of this arrest, Mr. Zinov is on probation for Aggravated Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon out of the Barnstable Superior Court. The Cape & Islands DA’s Office filed a motion to hold Mr. Dudley and Mr. Zinov without bail as a danger to the community at their arraignments [Wednesday]. Both defendants were held in custody for a hearing on said motion this Friday, August 8th. District Attorney Galibois noted how the seamless coordination between law enforcement agencies led to a successful operation to make our communities safer. We remain committed to disrupting the flow of illegal drugs and holding those in the business of narcotics transactions accountable. The Cape & Islands District Attorney’s Office reiterates that all defendants are presumed innocent. P.S. – Today’s Hytown Vignette is a brought to you by The Tom Tom Club… [CLICK IT/CRANK IT!
