ABOVE HN PHOTOS: Members of the Barnstable Police Department patrol division responded to a report of a man breaking into parked motor vehicles in the Hyannis neighborhood known as the “Tree Streets,” in between Winter Street and Bearses Way late Thursday evening – July 24, 2025.  A K9 unit arrived first on scene and confirmed that several vehicles had just been broken into.  A description of the adult male suspect was put out to responding cruisers.  Some officers in darkened prowl cars took strategic positions on the perimeter.  A patrol K9 was deployed in hopes of tracking the suspect.  A specially equipped Barnstable Police drone was also deployed over the area.  Back at the scene, a member of the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit began dusting for fingerprints, taking photos, and collecting evidence.  Meanwhile, another patrol officer worked on obtaining residential video footage from one of the victims.  Based on combined investigative efforts, officers were able to identify a suspect.  Officers reportedly had probable cause for the arrest of Brunno Lacerda, an individual who is no stranger to police (see above 2024 BPD booking photo). In the wee hours of Sunday morning – July 27, 2025 – Barnstable Police patrol officers spotted Lacerda in the Hyannis East End, near the intersection of Main Street and Yarmouth Road. Lacerda was taken into custody and placed in the backseat of a BPD cruiser. Brunno Lacerda, 41, homeless in Hyannis was arrested for crimes related to larceny from a motor vehicle, having allegedly broken into 2 motor vehicles, while also allegedly attempting to break into a third. Lacerda is no stranger to police.  Recently, on June 3, 2025, Lacerda was arrested and charged with one felony count of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (knife).  The following is an excerpt from Patrolman Mele’s report regarding the arrest on Ocean Street in Hyannis: “Brunno had shown up at their house trying to collect money that he stated they owed him. They stated it was $100.00. When I asked what the money was for, they both got hesitant to answer my question. I then informed them that I know who Brunno is, and I know that he deals narcotics. [Redacted] then admitted that they use him as their dealer to buy crack cocaine, and he was there to collect money from the last time they bought crack cocaine off of him which was about a month ago. They stated that Brunno asked for the money that they owe him, and they told him they do not owe him money. They stated that at some point during this conversation, Brunno pulled out a knife from the area of his pocket/waist band. They stated he then pointed it at both [redacted] and [redacted] and they both stated they were in fear for their lives. Brunno then placed the knife on the table. [Redacted] then told Brunno they were calling the police and Brunno took the knife and left. When we asked what the knife looked like, [redacted] stated it was a ‘steak knife…’” According to a police source, Lacerda has been accused of pulling a knife to threaten someone on at least two separate occasions in recent years. * HN wishes to remind readers that all defendants are presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. OTHER RECENT HN PHOTOS:   ABOVE HN PHOTO: Barnstable Police patrol officers responded to Barnstable Road, near the intersection with Main Street, after a report of gun threat allegedly made by a male during an argument… before leaving the scene.  There was a question as to whether the male had a gun concealed inside his pocket.  A description was put out to cruisers in the area… and a search of the area was inconclusive.       ABOVE HN PHOTO: Barnstable Police and a Hyannis FD ambulance crew responded to the Hyannis House Apartments on West Main Street in Hyannis last week when a woman called saying she had just been attacked and robbed.  The woman was evaluated by rescue but not transported after either being either suffocated or strangled, according to radio transmissions and sources.  Police began searching for two suspects, a man and a woman.  The woman was eventually caught and arrested.  Police reportedly identified the male suspect… who was still at large as of Sunday morning.   No further details at this time…         ABOVE HN PHOTOS: Members of the Yarmouth Police Department patrol division were out searching for an idiot driving a banged-up red Honda sedan early this morning, at around 1:00 a.m.  The idiot was reportedly racing up and down Park Ave in West Yarmouth.  There was said to be sparks, maybe flames, coming from underneath the idiot’s vehicle, which had been driving on one of its rims.  The idiot struck a landscape wall at the corner of Park Ave and Grove Street, leaving behind a hubcap and groves in the pavement.  The groves from the missing tire stretched across the entire area, observed as far away as the intersection in front of DJ’s Wings (awesome wings btw… I’m getting hungry just typing this), according to sources.  The idiot is also believed to have taken out someone’s mailbox on Wendward Way, leaving behind a piece of his red [bleep]-box.  One caller described the idiot as an adult male with dark hair.  In other words, basically looking like what many would imagine an ordinary idiot driving a red [bleep]-box in the wee hours of a Monday morning would look like… especially one likely [bleep]-faced, out annoying normal people, while destroying the property of those needing to wake up later for work… … but I digress.   The point is, I’m asking everyone reading this to go right on ahead and make a supreme effort in trying to have a very safe and splendiferous Cape Cod Monday  –  in spite of this wanton idiot bombing around in his red [bleep]-box! [REDACTED – rhymes with puck] THIS FOOL! P.S. – Today’s Hytown Vignette is a brought to you by Matt Bianco… [CLICK IT/CRANK IT! HEADPHONES ABSOLUTELY OBLIGATORY!]
