ABOVE: A Yarmouth Police patrolman and a Massachusetts State Trooper tow and secure the suspect vehicle at YPD Headquarters. INSERTS: Gauge, the drug sniffing police K9, booking photo of Justin Jimenez, 36.6 grams of Fentanyl and Oxycodone tablets that Gauge detected hidden inside Jimenez’s underwear. YARMOUTH, MASSACHUSETTS – According to a report filed in Barnstable District Court by Detective Nicholas Ambrosini of the Yarmouth Police Department, back on 7/18/25, a Knock and Announce daytime search warrant was obtained authorizing the search of a 2019 Ford Edge, color blue, bearing Massachusetts registration 5KMJ28. The search warrant authorized the search for Fentanyl. The search warrant also authorized the search of Justin Jimenez and any other persons in the vehicle, related to an ongoing Fentanyl distribution investigation. A briefing regarding the warrant was conducted at YPD Headquarters this past Wednesday – 7/23/25 – at around 3:00 p.m., including members of the YPD detective division, members of the local DEA, and at least one Massachusetts State Trooper. A plan was developed, and the necessary arrangements were made prior to heading up onto Route 6 in order to conduct surveillance. Investigators working the case had already been conducting Route 6 surveillance earlier in the week, on Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesday – 7/23/25 – at around 3:45 p.m., Jimenez was reportedly observed traveling eastbound on Route 6.  A motor vehicle stop was conducted just east of Exit 7, in the Town of Yarmouth. Jimenez was asked to step out of the vehicle and was eventually placed in handcuffs. He was reportedly advised of the search warrant, along with his Miranda warnings. Jimenez was then transported back to YPD Headquarters to be searched. The vehicle was also placed onto a flatbed tow truck and escorted back to YPD Headquarters under constant observation by state trooper. Once inside the YPD booking room, Jimenez was advised that a narcotics dog was about to enter and “sniff the air that was emanating off his person.” Detective Ambrosini then retrieved K9 Gauge and returned to let the specially trained narcotics dog search the air emanating off Jimenez for the presence of Fentanyl. There was reportedly a “marked change in breathing and behavior” when Gauge sniffed the air emanating off Jimenez’s crotch area. Gauge then reportedly sat down in front of Jimenez’s crotch area and the suspect was advised the dog had just alerted “to the presence of narcotic order.” When Jimenez’s underwear was searched further by being “lowered slightly,” a small cleared knotted plastic bag of white tablets reportedly fell onto the floor. Two additional plastic bags containing white powder were then located wedged between the suspect’s “testicles and inner thighs.” Detective Ambrosini’s report continues as follows: “Upon further examination of the 2 bags containing the off-white powder located on Jimenez’s person, [they] had an approximate gross weight of 36.3 grams […] A sample of the off-white powder was tested using a Tru Narc device. It tested positive for fentanyl. Upon further examination of the small clear knotted plastic bag containing the white tablets located on Jimenez’s person, there were (6) small round white tablets marked M 05/52 (Oxycondone 5mg) and 3.5 small round green tablets marked V 48/11 (Oxycondone 15mg). All drug evidence was tagged and placed into evidence.” As the result of the combined efforts by the Yarmouth Police Department, local DEA, and Massachusetts State Police – and especially those efforts by K9 Gauge – Justin A. Jimenez, 25, of Norwood, was charged with Trafficking Fentanyl 36g or More, Possession of a Class B Substance (Oxycodone 15mg) with Intent to Distribute, and Possession of a Class B Substance (Oxycodone 5mg) with Intent to Distribute. Jimenez was arraigned in Barnstable District Court on Thursday, 7/24/25. On Friday – 7/25/25 – a police source informed HN that the court had just ruled to hold Jimenez in custody for 120 days on dangerousness.  No further details were available to HN at the time of this report. * All defendants are presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
